A Heritage as Deep as Our Pizza
Our now-famous deep dish stuffed pizza was born in northern Italy over 200 years ago. Mama Giordano was famous around the town of Torino for her exquisite cooking - in particular, for her Italian Easter Pie. Brought out for special occasions, the Italian Easter Pie was a double-crusted, cheese-stuffed masterpiece. The Easter Pie was a sacred tradition in the Giordano family and legendary in the town of Torino.
... Years later, Efren and Joseph Boglio moved to Chicago to start their own pizza business. They introduced Mama Giordano's stuffed pizza recipe to Chicago on the city's historic South Side, opening the world's first Giordano's in 1974. The rest is history that you can still taste today. Over the next 50 years, Giordano's became synonymous with Chicago. Millions of happy and loyal fans and hundreds of critics have called Giordano's "the best pizza." We've garnered frequent media coverage atop "Best Pizza" lists and dining guides. We've been called "Chicago's Best Pizza" by NBC, CBS Chicago, The New York Times, Chicago Magazine, and more.
